Catch up of sorts!

In an attempt to go on in order of what's been happening, I have stopped posting about day to day life here. Sorry!

The biggest thing that has really put a spanner in my works is I've got a herniated disc and have been flat on my back for virtually two weeks. I pulled my back on the 1st December when I leaned down to pull out a plug after cleaning Yoshi's room with him. That was incredibly painful and had me crying in bed unable to move, but after a couple of days I could get up and hobble about, and I didn't miss any work.

My back grumbled and was sore a lot over the next month but I was able to go out and do some gentle cross country skiing and walking and all told I thought I was getting better. Then on the 11th January as Sachiko and I were getting ready for the start of classes again, the pain suddenly started again and just went on getting worse and worse for no reason at all. By the end of the day I was praying for her and my cleaning lady to just leave so I could lie down, and by the time Seiju came home I was in tears with the pain and completely unable to move. We went to the hospital first thing the next day and when they saw me they gave me a bed right away as I could neither sit nor stand. The ride there in the bumpy snow was agony. I saw a back specialist and got X-rays then a CT scan which showed the hernia. The Dr said that the original pull was when it herniated and then it impinged on the nerve over a month later. I spent a full week on my back in bed (at home thank goodness as Seiju was still on his winter break till the Tuesday and Yoshi had the entire week off.) They did everything for me and the household. I started back at work last week with a back brace and Sachiko helping me in most of the kindergarten lessons. She was indispensable. This week I am feeling better but not fixed and am in pain most of the time. I wonder how long it will be before I can move freely again? Such a tiny movement, to have caused such huge stress and pain.

Ouch. It sounds very painful. Will it heal itself over time? Glad to hear your boys are pulling their weight round the house and helping mum out. Hope you have some good drugs. xxx

Thanks all! It is incredibly painful and you just can't do ANYTHING except lie down. Even drinking a cup of tea is hard to work out how to do and don't get me started on going to the toilet......

It should heal over time but the actual hernia bit stays as far as I can tell so if the goo bulges out and hits the nerve again, it will hurt again......

What frightens me is that what did it was such a small ordinary movement, I just am wondering what will set it off again?
