Ah well, he was four and a half years old, and only had three legs, so I think he lasted pretty long for a little slimy, sticky blob!

That was a very good send off your family gave him! Four and a half years was a very good long life for a salamander! And making it that long with only 3 legs, well done little guy!
Lol! That reminds me of many pet funerals that I had as a kid. My sister even convinced my dad to buys her fish when they died.
